about the films
Anak Seletar takes us into Sungai Temon, home of the Seletar people. Through the eyes of its children, we see play, learning, and belonging unfold, even as waves of development close in on their ancestral home.
Bagan tells the story of Frankie and Gamat, two friends facing the uncertainty of their village’s final days. When a government notice announcing land reform arrives, Frankie, unable to read it, refuses help from Gamat—just as the weight of eviction looms over their kampung.
Together, these films move like the rivers they portray: carrying memory, joy, and urgency, while reflecting the resilience of communities caught
in change.
