about the performances
Francoe’s Nafas and Anak Borneo & Friends’ Fire Ritual on Pulau Acoustic. Francoe’s setlist, featuring tracks from Gundah Gulana and Is Not In Service, moves between raw vulnerability and energetic polyrhythms, creating a mood-shifting experience. Anak Borneo’s acoustic performance strips down songs from Pulau and Fire Ritual to their essence, using only voice, sape (Bornean lute), and guitar, highlighting themes of ancestral memory, the rainforest, and personal and environmental struggles. More than just concerts, both performances invite audiences to reflect, connect, and experience music as ritual.
about the ARTISTs
Francoe is the collaboration of Coebar Abel and Ian Francis, longtime creative partners who have worked across performing arts productions and performed in post-rock quartet GLASS and math-rock outfit The Filters. Nafas marks their return to live performance after a brief hiatus.
Anak Borneo, the stage name of Evan Lee, is an independent musician, performing artist, and brewer from Sepupok Niah, Sarawak. His work blends traditional instruments and contemporary acoustic storytelling, rooted in heritage and community. Half the proceeds from his performance will support Orang Asli community initiatives, reinforcing the ritual’s spirit of reciprocity.
