about the event
The screenings explore rivers as spaces of memory, livelihood, and change. In The Lifeline of Klang Valley (Part 1), a short documentary traces the Klang River’s journey from its clean, life-giving source to its polluted urban flow, reminding us of the river’s vital role in shaping Kuala Lumpur. Bagan tells the story of two friends facing the uncertainty of eviction as their fishing village nears its end. Anak Seletar takes us into the world of the Seletar community in Sungai Temon, seen through the eyes of its children as they play, learn, and belong amidst encroaching development.
Together, these films offer intimate portraits of communities and rivers intertwined, inviting us to reflect on connection, resilience, and the urgency of care.
